For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12, NIV

The war, in which we are fighting, whether we believe or acknowledge it, is not with the flesh and blood of this world.  As long as we continue to fight with each other our attention is diverted and will remain unclear as to the real enemy of mankind.  This is an epic conflict that our limited understanding will never fully grasp while in this world.  To attempt to bring it into our own finite mentality is not only arrogant, but impossible.  Most importantly, to do battle through our significantly inadequate weapons is tantamount to spiritual suicide. The victory comes from the upside-down strategy of surrender. The surrender is not to the battle itself, nor to the short-lived tempting desires of the flesh, but to the sweet surrender to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is the Way! He is the Truth! He is the Life!  The answer is so close, yet many spend their entire earthly journey never realizing just how close Christ is to us.  All we need do is ask.  Like a child approaching his beloved father, we can come to our Heavenly Father for all of our needs.  It is this simplicity that baffles the minds of the learned in this world.  It is not complicated, it is very simple.  Only we, in our inherited pride, make it complicated.

Surrender to Jesus Christ is a one-day-at-a-time scenario.  He gives us enough Grace for that one day.  It is in that day that we not only do battle, but we also learn and grow in our revelation knowledge of God’s purpose and Master Plan.  Jesus Christ, through the power of His Holy Spirit that resides in us the moment we profess our faith in Him, is our teacher, our best friend, our great healer, our Savior, our Redemption, our King, our Lord, and our most exalted Heavenly Father.  From the simple to the complex, from the complex to the simple, Jesus Christ is all in all.

The winning strategy is to step back from this world with all of its daily distractions that keep us off the path.  It is to “pray without ceasing,” which is not only spending quiet intimate time with Christ, and contemplating His story in the Bible, but talking and listening to Him throughout the entire day.  This is an uncomfortable proposition for many of us, only because it is unfamiliar.  On any day of our choosing we can begin anew, embarking upon the most fascinating, fulfilling, and everlasting journey of our life.

When this monumental yet simple choice is made, and continued each day, we are fitted with each piece of the Armor of God gradually beginning to get a glimpse of the bigger picture.  Our battle position is surrender to the Holy Spirit as we are led through every single aspect of our lives.  Every talent, gift, experience, or relationship begins to come together like the pieces of the puzzle of our lives being formed into this masterpiece of a portrait.  The picture is being revealed and clarity is formed the more we sink into that sweet surrender of trust, faith, hope, and unconditional Agape love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
