The Personal Journey 365, power of True Fellowship

The Personal Journey 365, True Fellowship

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.  If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?  A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, NLT

The power of True Fellowship is found in the very act of coming together in unity of mind and spirit in the name of Jesus Christ, and through the power of the Holy Spirit.  True Fellowship is a fellowship of sinners, not of “Saints.”  In other words, the facades are foreshadowed by a level of honesty and humility that brings light into the darkness.  There arises an underlying awareness that we are not alone in our misunderstanding of deceptions that we sometimes overwhelming experience.  It is, “Divide and conquer no more.”  Truth is exposed, and we are set free.  True fellowship brings confession, accountability, and unity.

Confession – Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed… (James 5:16, NIV) These confessions to one another brings an awareness that the battle is not with flesh and blood, that lies and deception of the powers of evil is the Enemy’s only weapon.  When we come together in the spirit of honesty and truth, no matter how ugly we make think our sin might be, the lies and deception no longer have power.  The burden of sin and guilt is lifted by the power of the Holy Spirit, and the journey of healing and restoration in every area of our lives begin.

Accountability – brings the support and encouragement needed to continue on our journey of all God calls us to do.  With accountability we are more likely to obey, more likely to overcome, and most likely to walk in splendid victory over our battles through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Even though our brothers and sisters in Christ may not hold us accountability, we feel accountable.  This accountability is contagious and brings about a ripple effect of victory.

Unity – the very purpose of God’s plan.  Unity across all platforms of belief is found in one single note- Jesus Christ.  The love of Jesus Christ is the highest form of intimacy that we can achieve both with our Creator, and with each other.  Christ’s bride the church, meaning the followers of Jesus Christ, is being brought together in an unbreakable bond of unity of purpose and plan by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The personal journey is a one day at a time battle fought with the full armor of God, standing firm in the Truth of Jesus Christ, together watching each other’s back in True Fellowship as God’s master plan unfolds.
