A father struggles with the desire to avenge his daughter’s murder versus forgiving the murderer.

When I began on my journey with Christ as the center of my life some 12 years ago, I had no idea what it would entail. I was under the misguided assumption that first this initial decision to put God first was completely by my choice; and secondly, that if I just read and study enough material or even try to glean tidbits of knowledge from the TV preachers and experts I would be able to figure out enough to please God. And if I pleased God he would give me what I wanted when I wanted it. With all frankness, I can say looking back now I realize that I was clueless! I was just a babe in the woods on a journey into the unknown.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer is one of the most heroic Christian figures of the 20th Century. The German theologian stood up to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime and struggled to keep Germany’s church from joining the Nazis. Eventually he joined the resistance movement and, in the end, Hitler had him executed.

To begin the personal journey with our Lord, Jesus Christ, means surrendering our control on a daily basis. The free choice we have been given can be the very hindrance to our divine relationship. Our feeble understanding tends to want to put”God-in-a-box,” thus limiting our relationship and His call in our lives. The God-in-a-box mentality will reach its ceiling and never break through unless complete surrender to the point of uncontrolled abandonment is chosen. To continually seek to be in control ultimately spins life out of control when the paradigm shifts. However, to surrender control to God brings order, peace, security, fulfillment and freedom. The opposite of what we have been led to believe.
Kamal Saleem heard a voice call his name and saw a vision of Christ. This was miraculous, because up until then, Kamal was a Muslim.
