Resurrection: God’s Victory Through Jesus

He Is Risen

Luke 23:43 (NIV) “Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Easter is a day of victory, love, hope, and promise. Jesus suffered the incredible humiliation of the cross and endured great suffering for our sakes. Let me mention just a few of the horrors He willingly suffered for our sakes, in the name of unconditional love. Jesus endured the rejection and false testimonies of His chosen people. His disciples denied and abandoned Him in the Garden of Gethsemane, only to follow Him at a distance. (John alone stood at the foot of the cross with His mother, Mary.) The Jewish people convinced Pilate to release Barabbas, a convicted murder, because they wanted Jesus crucified. Soldiers spit at our Savior and made Him wear a crown of thorns. They whipped him and mocked him and made him carry a cross to his place of death. Nails through bone and flesh attached Him to a wooden cross. After suffering separation from His heavenly Father, because of the sins He carried to the cross, He gave up His spirit. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoeverread more

Good Friday: God’s Gift To Humanity

Good Friday on Cross

Isaiah 53:5 (NIV) “But He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.” John 19:28-30 (NIV) “Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When He had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, He bowed his head and gave up His spirit.” It would seem a paradox to call the painful death and the loss of a friend or son a “Good Day.” But as believers, we understand it was a very GOOD Friday when Jesus died for us. Eternal damnation and eternal life were at stake. God sent His only Son to earth in order to deliver humanity from sin. Every one of our sins was nailed to the cross of Jesus. No more animal sacrifices are necessary for our forgiveness. Jesus was the one and only sacrifice required and as He said on the cross,read more

God’s Best For Us: Love Lessons

Jn3 16 space

Isaiah 41:13 (NIV) “For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
 I will help you.” God is our Father. He holds our hand when we are struggling or afraid. He cheers us on like a baby taking his first steps. God loves us with an unconditional love and wants the very best for us. So what is the “very best” that God wants for His adopted children? Is it the same thing that God deemed best for His own Son? Yes, at least to a certain measure. Jesus died an unfathomably painful death on the cross. There are some among us who will also suffer painful deaths like Jesus, just think of the Christians in China. However, most of us in America will not experience such a horrific experience. And yet, we will ALL suffer some time in our lives. If we endure in the name of Jesus, we will share in His glory. If we maintain a Christian perspective and attitude in the midst of our personal grief and suffering, we could even win some souls to Christ. By living our everyday life and living through personal stormsread more

Spiritual Maturity

Total Surrender

“One of the marks of spiritual maturity is the quiet confidence that God is in control-without the need to understand why He does what He does.” -Anonymous Colossians 1:9-10 (ESV) “And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” Wonderful analogies can be made between our need for physical and emotional growth and our need for spiritual growth. God does not want us to remain immature or in a stagnant state of non-growth. Our physical bodies were designed to “stretch” and mature into taller, stronger, and fruitful bodies. We are called the children if God, but this does not mean He wants us to go through life as two-year-olds. As middle-aged adults, we will always remain children in the eyes of our parents. However, there is nothing attractive or appealing in adults who refuse to grow up emotionally. Responsibilities can be scary and intimidating. However, they are necessaryread more

Use God’s Strength To Heal Your Broken Pieces

Shattered

ISAIAH 41:10 (NIV) “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
 I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” When we are broken, for the glory of Christ, we share not only in His sufferings but in rewards as well. We grow into a deeper comprehension of His incredible sacrifice for us, by dying a torturous death on the cross. We appreciate all the more His devotion and unconditional love for us. Hopefully, when we suffer a trial it draws us even closer into His loving embrace. We are assured that our Savior will strengthen us and help us through whatever battle we must face. He promises to uphold us in His very hand!! With the provision of spiritual armor, there should never be any doubt in our making it through obstacles. In fact Philippians 4:13 tells us that we can do all things through Him who strengthens us. You may ask, “What are the rewards gained by enduring storms?” Well, for one thing your relationship and intimacy with Christ will mature. With the maturing process that comes with trials ofread more

Are Delays Really Denials From God?

Jesus Fights Battle

Protection from the evil one should be a daily part of our prayers, as the devil likes to harass and oppress the children of God. It is always a good idea to pray a hedge of protection around yourself and the ones you love.

Fear Cripples And Trips The Believer

Stand Firm And Do Not Be Afraid!

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” We are told that God did not give us a spirit of timidity. Rather, we have been given a spirit of POWER. This power comes from God and is full of His wisdom and strength. The key ingredient of His Godly power in us is LOVE. Love is a mighty weapon. In 1 Corinthians 13:13, it is called the “greatest gift of all.” Why then is love even greater than faith and hope? When you love your enemies with the love of God, you startle them into a state of reflection. Confusion will arise as they ponder their hateful actions and the contradicting response of your love and kindness. They will be stumped. Confusion is of course a tool of the devil, so you will need to pray that God reveals the truth to the “enemy” you are trying to love. Ultimately, we are on earth to win souls for Christ. If you do not see a change in their behavior, this does not mean you haven’t planted a seed. God has the watering can andread more
